Sitting, Waiting, Wishing

For many adoptive families the road to family formation can often be long.  This week has been particularly difficult for our family, as we have seen week 6 come and go, along with a promised guarantee of sentencia from our judge.  Learning to accept unpredictability and surrender to total lack of control has been one of the most challenging lessons in our education as adoptive parents.  We are eager to sleep in our own bed, kiss our dog, spend time with family and friends, establish a routine for our toddler and replenish our savings!  Whatever our challenges are, it is always better when we are together!  Each day, Emanuel continues to give us pause for reflection and gratitude.

In celebration of how far we have come, Emanuel teaches us to keep the faith...he leads us to the Virgin Mary each day on our daily walks.

Hail Mary full of grace please grant us Sentencia

  1. Perhaps it is time we stop "sending positive thoughts" and start saying novenas! In fact, I've researched just the saint to help you out, Saint Expedite, the go to saint for "quick action". Maybe summoning his help will get you guys on the plane back to MN early this week. Waiting with anticipation to see you 3 soon!!! xoxo! :)

  2. Keep the faith. Keep praying. Keep crossing your fingers. Keep channeling positive thoughts. Keep doing it all. We know it sounds impossible to believe, but at some point in the semi-distant future, this terribly long wait will be but a blurry memory and simply a detail in Emanuel's adoption story. Know that we are thinking of you three!

  3. I'm so sorry the paperwork approval is taking so long! I'm glad that you are finding plenty of time to relax together though, as I'm sure it will be more of a whirlwind once you get home. Thinking of you!
